Due Diligence Against Forced Labor

As Sierra Wireless’ Modern Slavery Statement attests, Sierra Wireless (the “Company”, “we”, or “us”) upholds human rights as described in the United Nations’ Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The Company has established a Code of Business Conduct which affirms that all people are to be treated equally and with respect, and the Company adheres to the Responsible Business Alliance’s Sustainability Code of Conduct (the “RBA Code”) Management System which includes Ethics, Labor, Health and Safety, and Environmental requirements.

Greenhouse Gas Reduction Target

As part of our commitment to addressing climate change, Sierra Wireless has set an absolute greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction target to reduce Scopes 1, 2, and 3 GHG emissions by 27.5% by 2030. This goal is relative to 2019 levels.

The scale of reduction is aligned to the well below 2°C scenario and all facilities under Sierra Wireless’ operational control are included. This target has not been externally verified, however, best practices and guidance from the SBTi, GHG Protocol, and GRI-305 have been integrated while setting this target. We look forward to sharing more about our GHG target in our 2021 Corporate Sustainability Report.

Code of Business Conduct

Our commitment to social responsibility is grounded in our Code of Business Conduct, which applies to all employees, officers, and members of the Board of Directors of the company. In addition, our subcontractors and suppliers are expected to comply with the principles set forth in this Code and to adopt policy documents which implement such compliance.

Sierra Wireless is committed to conducting business in accordance with the highest standards of business conduct and integrity. As part of this commitment, Sierra Wireless supports the principle of freely chosen employment and we do not support the use of forced labor in any of its forms, including slavery and child labor.

RBA Commitment

The Responsible Business Alliance (RBA) is an industry initiative championing social and environmental responsibility. As a Member of the RBA, Sierra Wireless fully supports the vision and goals of the RBA. Sierra Wireless is required to complete a Self-assessment Questionnaire that assesses our adherence to the RBA Code of Conduct. In addition, we have implemented an internal audit program to monitor compliance with the RBA Code of Conduct. Suppliers that do not meet the standard set by the RBA Code of Conduct are offered training through the RBA and are removed from our supply chain if non-compliance persists.​

Social and Environmental Responsibility

Sierra Wireless is committed to building sustainable communities which includes operating our business in a manner that minimizes our impact on the environment. As a result, Sierra Wireless tracks and documents energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions at the corporate level.
Sierra Wireless also upholds human rights as described in the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights and we are taking steps to ensure that modern slavery and human trafficking is not taking place within our business or supply chain.

Conflict Minerals

Our Conflict Minerals program includes due diligence measures which are consistent with the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development Due Diligence Guidance for Responsible Supply Chains of Minerals from Conflict-Affected and High-Risk Areas. We file our Conflict Minerals Report annually with the Securities Exchange Commission.​

Supplier Social and Environmental Responsibility

We expect any suppliers with which we do business to adhere to the same social, environmental, labour, health and safety and ethical standards that we apply to our business activities and to have in place programs and processes to ensure that our supply chain is free of any form of forced or child labour. Further, we expect our first-tier suppliers and primary contract manufacturers to acknowledge compliance with the RBA Code of Conduct and Sierra Wireless’ Global Environmental Policy and Conflict Minerals Policy.​

Reporting and Escalation

Beyond the standard audit process detailed above, Sierra Wireless may receive reports alleging a violation of our Code of Business Conduct or the RBA Code of Conduct. Reports may be received by Sierra Wireless both internally and externally, including via the following two channels:​ Sierra Wireless will investigate and assess the circumstances of any alleged violations which are brought to our attention and determine any follow-up action that may be required. ​
